DOUBLE TROUBLE
Faith Aldridge wants answers. Bramble, Texas is the only place she can find them . . . as well as Hope, the identical twin sister she never knew she had. But the townsfolk reckon that shy city-girl Faith is really her long-lost sister Hope, back in Bramble at last. And they’re fixin’ to do whatever it takes to heat things up between her and Hope’s long-time flame, Slate Calhoun. If that means rustling her car, spreading rumors like wildfire, and reining in some explosive secrets, well, there’s no way like the Lone Star way . . .
But Slate’s no fool. The woman in his truck may look like Hope, yet the way she feels in his arms is altogether new. He’s determined to keep this twin in his bed and out of his heart. Trouble is, the real Hope is headed home, and she’s got her own designs on Slate. If Faith wants to avoid heartbreak, she’ll have to show a certain ruggedly handsome cowboy that this crazy-impossible love is worth fighting for.

THERE’S A NEW BRIDE IN TOWN!
Hope Scroggs is finally ready to get hitched. After years of sowing her wild oats, the former head cheerleader and homecoming queen has returned to Bramble, Texas, to marry her high school flame. But her perfect wedding plans are stomped to smithereens when her adoring cowboy two-steps down the aisle with someone else. Now Hope is stuck with the one man from her past she can’t shake: Colt Lomax, an irresistible bad boy whose sultry kisses are hotter than the Panhandle in August . . .

Colt lives for freedom and the open road; he never gets attached, never looks back. Still, he can’t forget the night of passion he once shared with Bramble’s sweetheart—a night he wouldn’t mind repeating. So, he piles on the Texas charm to tease the feisty beauty back into his bed, while she tries her darnedest to resist. But something unexpected is about to tie their fates together . . . and oh, baby, will it ever!

My Thoughts Doubled :)

.

It’s no secret that contemporary romance sometimes bores me to tears. Basic romance can sometimes get monotonous. I mean how sweet can a guy be? How misconstrued can any everyday situation get? Sometimes contemporary romance just gets a bit..too much.

Katie Lane’s first two books in her Deep In the Heart Of Texas series didn’t give me any of the above issues. I found her writing to be engaging, quirky and at times, downright hilarious. The hilarity mainly centered around the stereotypical stupidness (it’s a word, hush) of the residents of Bramble. OMG, seriously, they were dumb.  Their inability in common sense often made me wonder throughout the book how they managed to, I dunno, feed themselves on a daily basis. Sure, their intentions were always heartfelt…but..wow. I think I need to travel to some small podunk town in the south and see if it’s really how it is.

Going Cowboy Crazy finds Faith wondering about her real family. The one she just found out she had. Faith knew she was adopted sure, but a twin? That was news to her. Faith sets out on a journey from her comfortable city life and finds herself in Bramble next to some ginormous hillbilly’s truck with everything thinking she is her twin sister….the light of the city. Everyone apparently loves Hope. Whats the harm in letting them think she is her sister, at least at first. Except now they are trying to get her back together with Hope’s hometown football star, Slate. Slate is no sucker though, he knows this imposter isn’t Hope from the moment his lips touch hers. Getting Faith to fess up isnt hard…getting the town to understand. Now that’s a job.

Slate and Faith were so great together. Typical of small football towns, Slate was the golden boy. The ex football player now turned coach. Faith has just found out she has a twin, there isn’t much more her emotional state can carry. Why would her real parents only give up one twin and keep the other? She is hurt, understandably so. Now she is pseudo seeing her twins boyfriend? Probably not the best way to introduce herself. Hope is no where around though, so whats the harm of having a bit of fun with the cowboy who insists Hope and him are NOT an item?

.

Make Mine A Bad Boy is Hope’s story. Hope has come home after 5 long years trying to make it, unsuccessfully, in Hollywood. She comes home expecting a heros welcome and instead finds a twin sister she never knew has taken over her life. Hope is NOT happy. She came home to settle down with her friend Slate, though she doesn’t truly love him, and finds Faith already has him. As the more, vocal, outgoing twin she has a mean streak a mile wide…that affectingly hides her fragile emotions. She is lonely. Hope feels like no one understands her. Except for one guy…one motorcycle bum that has been a thorn in Hope’s side since she was a child..Colt Lomax.  Colt is the Bramble bad boy. The loner. Hope is the epitome of what Colt can never have. The prom queen would never settle down with a bum. Though what Hope doesn’t know is that Colt is now a successful motorcycle builder with quite a bit of money. The bad boy still doesn’t want to settle down but Hope is slowly chipping away his resolve.

Both books were quirky fun. Each twin has their own unique emotions and take on situations. Faith just wants to fit in and Hope tries desperately to keep her at arm’s length. Even Hope can’t deny the twin pull she feels even if she doesn’t particularly like her new sister. Above and beyond the twin thing, is their love stories. Katie Lane has made me a devoted reader. I enjoyed both books and each perspective. The sex scenes were fairly tame with just enough spark to keep a reader warm.

The cast of townspeople kept the story moving along at a easy pace with their shenanigans. Colt’s sister, Shirlene brought her own comic relief as a troublemaker with a goal of her own. She added a small sidestory that I think may be added to in future books. Perhaps she will even get her own story. I would say though funny, the townspeople were way embellished…well I hope anyway LOL. They were “down home” boys. Every stereotype for southern people was used. Now I’ve never been to a tiny southern town, I’ve only seen the larger cities. However, I seriously hope they aren’t exactly like this town lol. I’d go crazy.

I give both Going Cowboy Crazy & Make Mine A Bad Boy by Katie Lane 4 stars!
