Eternal Flame by Cynthia Eden

Available NOW!

My copy: bought with my hubby’s hard earned money

No one that deadly should look that good. Hybrid demon Zane Wynter specializes in tracking the most lethal criminals, whether human or Other. But Jana Carter is nothing like his previous targets. She’s an Ignitor, able to conjure and control fire. She’s also sexy beyond belief—and used to playing dirty…

Jana knows she’s being set up. She even knows who’s responsible: Project Perseus, a secretive group that plans to rid the world of paranormals by any means necessary. From Louisiana’s sultry swamps to its desolate cemeteries, Jana and Zane must race to destroy the mastermind behind Perseus before their world goes up in flames—and with it, a desire that burns too hot to resist…

Zane Wynter always gets the bad guy…even if he is a little bad himself. Being a hybrid demon leaves him walking a thin line of control constantly. The darkness within wants out every chance it gets. Hearing a woman scream in a burning building and racing into the inferno isn’t anything to him, the flames can be controlled with a mere thought. He never expected to feel the instantaneous attraction to the woman he saves. There is something different about this woman. Something that smolders just below the surface.

Jana has a job to do. She most certainly isn’t a woman who needs saved. Especially by the delicious demon who works for the Night Watch Agency. But when they are thrown together to take down an evil operation killing supernaturals, they might as well take advantage of the close quarters. Jana doesn’t think redemption is in the cards for her, but Zane is about to lay all his on the line…for her.

Eternal Flame is the third book in Cynthia’s Night Watch Agency trilogy. She has never let me down with one of her books and Eternal Flame is no exception! I have been looking forward to Zane’s book ever since the first installment came out. I love Zane’s character. Ok, I love demons, you got me.  The stronger they are the more I love them.

Zane is constantly fighting the darkness inside of him. He doesn’t let people close, being close causes weakness and that’s the last thing he can afford to have. Letting Jana inside is something he struggles with throughout the book. Jana is an igniter, able to control fire, and she happens to be the person he is supposed to be bringing in. When these two get together sparks most certainly fly. Cynthia’s sex scenes are like no other. I’m not sure what makes them so good, maybe it’s just the incredible job she does at getting the reader involved and invested. From the moment you pick the book up you will want more of her world.

Jana was a character that had so many levels. She was an extreme hard ass with a soft heart. I felt so bad for her at times when she was discussing her past and what had led her to her present situation. Jana had learned not to trust, not to lay down roots. Why bother when people always want to use you? The trust issues abounded in this book. Neither character wanting to believe in the other until it was almost to late.

According to Cynthia there won’t be any more in this series…at least that’s the plan. I’m slightly disappointed in that. I saw an opportunity for two more books that I would most definitely would want to read. Tony the human cop and the witch Catalina would make a GREAT story. I also would love the teams leader Pak to get his own book. We don’t know much about him and he kind of seems lonely throughout the series. Cynthia, I implore you, please someday write more of this series. I know you’re super busy right now writing your new series and you have some releases scheduled for this year on other books…but but but….I want more Night Watch! :)

If you love paranormal romance with bite, then Eden is a name you need on your bookshelf at all times! She will transport you to a world where everything is plausible and attraction will not be denied.

I give Eternal Flame by Cynthia Eden 4.75 stars!

Cynthia Eden Interview and Giveaway!

O. M. G. you guys….my most favoritest author ever is joining us today to talk about all the super coolness that is her and give away a copy of her newest book, Eternal Flame! I can barely contain my SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Oops, sorry, a little one slipped out. *blushes*

Cynthia, wow, thank you so much for dropping by my blog!! I am super dooper excited that your here! Can you tell? Am I loud enough? I am jumping up and down…if only you could see me…..

How many books have you completed and published to date? How long have you been writing?

Hi, Nikki! Thanks so much for interviewing me!

So far, I’ve published 9 novels and 10 novellas. I’ve got 6 more novels scheduled to be released (these are finished and in various stages of production).

I wrote my first novel when I was eighteen. It was bad. So very bad.  Life interrupted for a while so flash forward many years…and I started writing full-time in 2004.

Pretty sure I own most of those too! I think my favorite so far has been Midnight’s Master…but I’ve told you that. Although I did just finish Deadly Fear and I have to say…WOW. Definitely to close now for me to call a favorite. Who would you say has been your favorite character or book to write?

My favorite varies depending on the story I’m writing. This may sound strange, but when I’m working on a story, *that* one is my favorite. I’m in the heads of the characters, and I’m loving them.  We’re perfect, all is peaceful and bright. :)   Then I start a new book, and that book becomes my favorite. Then the next one is my favorite…it’s a never-ending cycle.

Ahhh I totally understand that. Kind of how I feel when I read a book. I get wrapped up in just that book and those characters and it consumes me until it’s over. Then the next book does the same thing! Getting caught up in a book is the most amazing feeling. Speaking of reading, whats on your nightstand right now? Who are your go-to authors?

I just recently finished reading my very first Sookie Stackhouse book. Absolutely loved it!  I have so many favorite authors, a few are:  Kresley Cole, Linda Howard, Jayne Ann Krentz, Julie Garwood, Larissa Ione…

I haven’t read a Sookie book yet. I do watch the show though and I love it. I keep meaning to pick up a Sookie book but my “to be read” pile is pretty big. I wish there were more hours in the day. You mentioned some great paranormal and suspense romance authors. That is basically what you write mostly as well, do you ever see yourself branching out into historical romance or urban fantasy?

I think anything is possible. I just love writing, so I like to experiment and try new things. And, once upon a time, I was a history teacher. I’d love to incorporate some of my favorite time periods in books.

I never knew you were a teacher! I bet being a teacher provided you with a TON of stuff to write about if you wanted! I think a historical romance with paranormal aspects would be right up your alley! But let’s talk about the here and now. What do you have coming out and whats on your plate to work on?

ETERNAL FLAME, the third book  in my Night Watch bounty hunting series, will release on 11/30—so I’m pretty excited about that.  I loved writing Zane’s story. What can I say? Bad-boy demons are fun to write! And my heroine in this book has  a wild, dark side, too, so there were some fun twists that developed for me as I wrote the book.

As far as what I’m working on…I’m very excited to say that I will be doing a Fallen Angel series with Kensington Brava. So far, there are four books planned in the series, with the first book scheduled to be released at the end of 2011.  All of these books are set in one of my all-time favorite cities, New Orleans.

WHAT??!! A new series?? I CAN’T WAIT!!! I have to wait until the end of 2011? Ugg! At least I have the rest of your Fear trilogy and Eternal Flame to get me through! I really enjoyed the first two Night Watch novels, Eternal Hunter and I’ll Be Slaying You.

It seems your working all the time, where do you prefer to write? Do you have an office or are you a couch writer?

I can write any place (and have!). Right now, I’m semi-settled in an office I share with my husband and son. We all have our desks in there, and we work at different times.  I work best when I’m all alone and it’s nice and quiet.

Alone AND quiet? That actually happens? That never happens in my house….ever. I do try to relax though, even with the kids nearby. I can read pretty much anywhere just like you can write anywhere. I know you like to watch cheesy sci-fi movies to relax though. What else do you do in your down time?

LOL, you know me well!  I also enjoy heading to the beach, taking long walks, and watching way too many crime shows (like Criminal Intent and Law & Order SVU).

I need to get to the beach. I’ve only seen it twice. The kids keep asking but I think the closest they are gonna get anytime soon is the Great Lakes…hey, you can’t see across it. Almost the same lol. I enjoy Law and Order SVU but I haven’t seen many episodes. I do watch Castle which I think would be considered a crime drama. I enjoy Nathan Fillion, very much. I know we both LOVE Supernatural. I’m a huge Dean fan. Are you a Dean or Sam girl?

Dean!! Please, Dean!  Sam’s a little too emotional for me. Or, um, he was, before this season. I like Dean—he’s the strong, silent, wise-cracking type.

Ahhh a girl after my own heart! LOL. I think you would enjoy this hump day hottie post I did a few weeks back. *HINT HINT*

What do you think you would be doing if you weren’t a über popular writer?

Aw, I love you!  I’d probably be teaching. I always enjoyed teaching because I really like kids, and it was fun to see them make connections as they picked up information.  I also liked the field trips.  :)

*MUAH* Right back at you! You must have more patience than me. The idea of going anywhere with 30 kids does not sound appealing to me LOL.

Ok, I know you’re a busy lady, so just one more question. I ask everyone that comes by because I like to get a visual of who the author sees in their head when they write a character. I may not make the same picture, but it’s nice to know what other people see as well. If your newest release was turned into a movie today, who would be playing the main characters?

Now I have to think…Zane is tall, dark, and deadly. So for him, I’d go with Alex O’Loughlin (yes, please!). My heroine Jana Carter is sexy and deadly—I’d pick Kate Beckinsale (as she was in Underworld) for her  part

Thanks, again for interviewing me! It was a pleasure!

Alex O’Loughlin huh? Funny you should mention him. He was a hump day hottie for me too! Hawaii Five-O gives him ample opportunity to be shirtless…I likey :)

Thanks so much for coming by Cynthia!!!
