Easter Blog Hop!

I decided to be a part of my friend Danielle’s Easter Blog Hop awhile ago. I had grand plans on what I was going to give away and how achingly beautiful my gift would be. I envisioned a Easter basket brimming with candy and books and chocolate delivered personally to your house by the grand ole bunny himself.

And then my life exploded all over me and I have been running around with no rhyme or reason for the past month. I come home from work, crawl into the shower and then fall into bed. Then I noticed the $ limit was roughly $20 lol. But no fear…for there is always the thing that every person loves……

A Amazon Gift Card for $15!

Well, hey, at least you can pick exactly what you want now right? LOL If you need suggestions, just let me know!

But it doesn’t end there…oh no. The wonderful Sayde Grace has offered up an e-copy of her latest book: Voodoo, I Do! This book was awesome, I loved it!

Alpha female of both the werewolf and vampire species Josephine Wade has a problem–two, actually. The first is Etienne Bordeaux, her former vampire lover she hopes to seduce again. The second is her estranged Alpha werewolf mate, Braxton Wade, who wants to show her that she may be dominant, but he’s even more so, especially with her under him and his teeth marking her. Both powerful males want her back, but only one can have her heart, body and soul.

As Josephine tries to control the situation between her former lover and her husband, her world begins to unravel. What was once the truth is now fiction, and what was fiction is now truth. Only she can be the one to unite both truth and fiction to save those closest to her and take her place beside her true mate in both the werewolf and vampire worlds.

Thank You Sayde!!! *MUAH*

And lastly, at some point today I will have a post going up featuring Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione! Thanks to Grand Central Publishing I will be giving away 3 print copies of that as well! Mount Up & Feed The Fire by Melissa Ecker Dual Review

Type: Novella

Danielle’s Copy: Bought

Dr. Natalie Shea doesn’t want to be attracted to the rugged but affable cowboy who ends up under her care after a rodeo injury. But when a second fateful accident has their paths crossing again, there is no denying the synergy, both in and out of the bedroom. Luke Reilly is everything she never expected. He’s captured her body, but her heart won’t be won that easily. Can Luke break down the walls built by a childhood tragedy and set Natalie free to love him forever? Or will she walk away from him and Memory Grove without looking back?

Now so far this book is my favorite in the series. Luke is to freaking die for. *swoons*  I just have this thing for sexy cowboys!

Mount Up is the second book in the Memory Grove series. In this installment we get to meet Natalie who is an ER  Doctor and Luke who just happens to be rodeo cowboy. Who would have thought that two different people could fall so hard under each others spell like they did.

Natalie accepted a residency in Arkansas and now she is staying. There are some things she is still trying to work but after she meets Luke, he captivates not only her body but her mind as well. Luke is a local star in the rodeo crowd and everyone in the town loves him. After Luke gets hurt he is taken to the ER where Natalie works. She keeps cool and calm while treating this cowboy even though all of the nurses are fighting to help her take care of him. From the first time Luke lays eyes on her he is interested but can’t figure out why she doesn’t fall head over heels for his charm.

Ecker gives you nail biting attraction and hot sex with a cowboy. When they finally get to know each other and their relationship progresses the story just gets better and better. I loved the fact she made it a reality scenario so it wasn’t far-fetched. I loved the way they had to deal with everyday issues such as jealousy, anger, fear and the past. It was so easy to connect to both of them. I wish it never had to end because Luke is just too hot. I loved Mount Up and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Feed the Fire.

After eight years, Olivia Andrews returns to Memory Grove for her best friend’s wedding. She has no intention of becoming involved with sexy fireman, Cade Reilly, but once she finds herself in his bed, there is no turning back.Their casual affair is suddenly complicated when an unexpected visitor shows up on Cade’s doorstep and the demons that Olivia left behind come calling. Will their new found love overcome the obstacles created by their yesterdays or will those revelations drive a wedge between them forever?

I think there is something to say for a man in a uniform and needless to say Cade does wear it well. Not only is Melissa Ecker talented but brings a new excitement to romance. Feed the Fire is book three in this series and what a treat it is.

Olivia Andrews returns to Memory Grove for her best friend’s wedding after 8 long years. She does not want to get involved with the sexy fireman Cade but finds herself in his bed anyway. There is no turning back for her when some secrets come to light. Their affair suddenly turns complicated when an unexpected visitor for Cade and parts of Olivia’s past come to light. Can love actually overcome everything?

I absolutely loved the fact that we got a chance to see the characters from the previous two books.

Cade offers to help her out, but he doesn’t realize that by doing this, it will turn his world upside down. Although, Olivia has a lot of work to do to overcome her past, the one person she can count on is Cade.  Finally she is happy for the first time in a long freaking time, but she is having a little trouble adjusting to her new life. She just isn’t used to not looking over her shoulder every step of the way.

Throughout the story, Olivia’s character grows into herself and becomes the person she was meant to be. Cade is a giving man. Her true perfect match. Not many guys have the patience to help you work through issues or nightmares but he wants a partner and will be there every step of the way. But not only is Olivia dealing with  issues, Cade has a few on his own plate.

Feed the Fire is an awesome book. From now on Melissa Ecker is on my read list. I definitely recommend this series and you will not be disappointed. I am excited to see what will come next.

Rebecca Harper is making a clean break. The ink is dry on her divorce decree and her dream job has finally come to fruition. In two weeks, she will be on a plane to St. Louis. All her plans are set until sexy cop Justin Cain, her former high school crush, asks her to dinner. This one night out instigates a roller coaster ride of hot sex, serious soul searching and heart breaking decisions. Will Rebecca leave Justin behind to follow her dreams? Or will his love be enough to keep her in Memory Grove?

Pull the Trigger is the 1st book in  the series Memory Grove. Rebecca is newly divorced. She thought she married her first love, but come to find out he was knocking down her self image. As the story progresses, we see how he knocked her self image down over the years they were married. Taking a chance is what she is looking for and accepts Justin’s invite to dinner.

Justin is a police officer in a small town where everyone knows everything about one another. He was the popular one in school. Now he finds he has a connection with Rebecca and the only problem with that is, well, she will be leaving in two weeks.
I totally fell in love with Justin. He was goodhearted and very patient with Rebecca in helping her move past her issues. Adoring them as a couple is a understatement, their characters just jump out at you. They were interesting and I would love to read more about them. You just can’t help yourself getting sucked in.The airport scene was one of my favorites and it jumps out at you. It was so romantic.

Ecker takes you on a journey of giving a second chance at love. Romantic, steamy and  very enjoyable read. I am keeping my fingers crossed that in her other books we get a chance to check back in on their lives. I loved how the story came together so perfectly. Who could ask for more? Wait, I can because I can’t wait to read the two other books in this hot series.

Chicago Stars quarterback Dean Robillard is the luckiest man in the world: a bona-fide sports superstar and the pride of the NFL with a profitable side career as a buff billboard model for End Zone underwear. But life in the glory lane has started to pale, and Dean has set off on a cross-country trip to figure out what’s gone wrong. When he hits a lonely stretch of Colorado highway, he spies something that will shake up his gilded life in ways he can’t imagine. A young woman . . . dressed in a beaver suit.

Blue Bailey is on a mission to murder her ex. Or at least inflict serious damage. As for the beaver suit she’s wearing . . . Is it her fault that life keeps throwing her curveballs? Witness the expensive black sports car pulling up next to her on the highway and the Greek god stepping out of it.

Natural Born Charmer is for everyone who’s ever thought about leaving their old life in the dust and never looking back.

I have officially decided that I want a natural born charmer. The last book in the series is just as powerful as the first one. I wish the series didn’t have to end. I could have read about these sexy football greats.

Chicago Stars quarterback Dean Robillard is the luckiest man in the world: sports superstar and the pride of the NFL and lets not forget his career as a buff billboard model for underwear. But life in the glory lane has started to come to a stop, and Dean has set off on a cross-country trip to figure out what’s gone wrong in his life so he will be able to get back on track.

While traveling along a highway he comes across a woman in a beaver suit. Blue Bailey is on a mission to murder her ex.  She needs a ride, and America’s most famous football playboy has an imposing set of wheels. Now, all she has to do is keep him entertained for the time of their trip.

Blue is the toughest woman Dean has ever met. They’re soon heading for his summer home where their  complicated lives and attraction is ready to be entangled with his family
As the summer progresses, the wandering portrait artist and the charming football star play a high-stakes game, fighting themselves and each other for a chance to have it all.

This story makes you want to forget about your old life and concentrate on the new. Susan Elizabeth Phillips gives you the witty and funny conversations as well as tie your emotions into a knot. Tissues will be  must.

The wandering portrait artist and the charming football star play a high-stakes game, fighting themselves and each other for a chance to have it all. Dean is truly the natural born charmer. Although this book is the last it will make a great impact in the romance world.

Realistic, interesting and mind wondering! Phillips not only delivers but makes a powerful debt for the last book in the Chicago Stars series. Do I wish there was more.. well, yes of course. Do I wish I had more of an ending.. Absolutely.

If your haven’t gotten a chance to read this wonderful series you are missing out. Although I think it died too early, this series will always be a part of my favorite books.

Review by Danielle ( @lush26 )

Molly Somerville knows she has a reputation for trouble. She did give away her fifteen-million-dollar inheritance, but, hey, nobody’s perfect. Still, if anyone has an almost perfect life, it’s Molly. While her Daphne the Bunny children’s books could be selling better, she loves her cramped loft, her French poodle, and her career creating the fictional animals who live in Nightingale Woods. She even loves her sister, Phoebe. True, it was a little tough growing up in her shadow. Phoebe is beautiful, blissfully married, and the owner of the most successful professional football team in America. But who other than your sister knows you’re about to do something drastic every time you change your hair? Yes, Molly’s happy about almost everything … except her long-term crush on the daredevil quarterback for the Chicago Stars, that awful, gorgeous Kevin Tucker, a man who can’t even remember her name! One night Molly’s penchant for running into trouble runs right into Kevin himself, turning her world upside down. Heartbreak follows, and just when she’s certain things can’t get worse, Kevin forces his way back into her life. If only the overpaid, Ferrari-driving, poodle-hating jock was as shallow as she wants him to be, she could get on with her almost perfect life. But Kevin’s hidden depths and iron will propel Molly out of her comfortable existence into an unforgettable summer at a place called Wind Lake. Surrounded by paintbox cottages and a charming old bed-and-breakfast, she and Kevin battle their attraction while trying to cope with an aging sexpot actress, a cranky world-famous artist, and a pair of teenage newlyweds.

Their careers and lives are in crisis … yet they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Before the summer is over, will they be able to learn one of life’s most important lessons? Sometimes falling in love hurts, sometimes it makes you mad as hell, and sometimes if you’re very lucky it can heal in the most special and unexpected way.

I could never get bored with the Chicago Star series. It’s one great book after another. This book has everything that makes a great romance and more.

Molly and Kevin’s story is a real fascinating one. The journey on how they got there is not a easy.I thought it was sweet that they finally found what they needed in each other. At first glance, Molly and Kevin couldn’t be further apart from one another if they tried. A children’s books author, her character is closely linked with Kevin’s escapades over the years, Molly has had a huge crush on Kevin as long as she can remember. Not that football jock Kevin even knew she existed. With the continuous string of the doll faced women with no brains of their own that parade through his life, Kevin seems to be at the top of his game but how quickly Molly will knock him off.

Molly tends to hold onto a streak that has got her into trouble in the past. This is how she ends up in Kevin’s bed, seducing him in his sleep and an outraged Kevin gets rightfully upset about being taken advantage of. Kevin makes Molly promise to him that if there ever were consequences of their coming together she would let him know, which of course Molly doesn’t when she finds herself pregnant with Kevin’s baby. Finding out turns Kevin’s’ world up side down.

After getting married, Molly suffers a miscarriage which quickly spins her world in a downward spiral. Kevin who shakes her out of depression, takes her off on a trip to Wind Lake, and she finds herself running the quaint bed and breakfast that Kevin inherits from his aunt which Kevin wants nothing to do with. Kevin and Molly finally find friendship, and finally give in to their desire.

I think I might have liked Kevin too much. I could connect to both of them and I really enjoyed this fabulous journey. With so many ups and downs and the funny playful moments to keep you locked to it. I really liked the part about those Daphne books Molly was writing. That was really cute and creative and showed how much he actually meant to her.

The characters are so lovable. This book just happens to be witty and adorable. Highly recommended for those who love a good romance with a witty cast of characters that could make you laugh and fill you up with plenty of emotions. Funny and heartwarming, this is must read for romance lovers.

Review by Danielle ( @lush26 )

After the discovery that her late husband, a popular televangelist, embezzled five million dollars from his ministry, Rachel Stone is outcast and broke with a five-year-old son to raise, and in need of a job. Then fate and a dead car engine leaves her at a shabby drive-in theater owned by Gabriel Bonner, the hunky, anti-social black sheep of a prominent family, and the only person in Salvation, North Carolina, willing to employ her. The sexual electricity starts crackling the instant they meet–but it will take the shock of both their lives to give these two lonely people a second chance at love.

Another terrific installment in the Chicago Stars series. And to think I was somehow not looking forward to reading this book. I am so glad I ended up changing my mind. Like all her previous books in this series I got caught up in the story and was suddenly swept  into the lives of Gabe and Rachel.

Gabe is still mourning the loss of his wife and son, who died in a car accident two years prior. Rachel happens to be a widow of a faith healer, who was not only corrupted but he destroyed their town. Now back in the town where her husband ruined lives, she just wants to find the money and get out of dodge. One problem Gabe wants her bad.

This book was sad but had a warm ending. I cant even begin to tell you how beautiful and heartfelt it was. If I had to deal with every single person in a town hating me , I would have left. Rachel doesn’t leave she stays strong and wanting to just get her hands on her money so she can take care of her son.

Gabe and Rachel’s relationship is amazing. The only part I was unhappy with was how rocky they started out even though attraction was there. As the story started to progress all the pieces started to fall into place nicely. You also get an excellent side story about Ethan (Gabe’s brother) and Kristy. The side story is fun too.

Not only will you be smitten but keep a thing of tissues near by.

The Plan

Genius physics professor Dr, Jane Darlington desperately wants a baby. But finding a father won’t be easy. Jane’s super-intelligence made her feel like a freak when she was growing up, and she’s determined to spare her own child that suffering. Which means she must find someone very special to father her child. Someone . . . well . . stupid.

The Target

Cal Bonner, the Chicago Stars’ legendary quarterback, seems like the perfect choice. But his champion good looks and down-home ways are deceiving. Dr. Jane learns too late that this good ol’boy is a lot smarter than he lets on — and he’s not about to be used and abandoned by a brainy baby-mad schemer.

The Explosion

A brillant, lonely woman who dreams only of motherhood . . . A take no-prisoners tough guy who’ll settle for nothing less than surrender . . . Can passion and physical attraction propel two strong-willed yet vulnerable people to a totally unexpected love?

Susan Elizabeth Phillips brings not only a modern, youthful, and edgy story line, but keeps you captivated. I loved this book. It was a page turner and an emotional ride that I couldn’t get enough of. Heck, I couldn’t even bring myself to put this down for even five minutes.

Dr. Jane Darling is a genius professor with an outstanding IQ. The time has come and Jane is finally ready to be a mother. The only problem in wanting to have a baby is that she has no man in her life for the moment. Now she needs to find a prime candidate to give her the baby she wants with a no strings attached relationship.

Cal Bonner is the current quarterback for the Chicago Stars. For his birthday his teammates decide to get him a woman. Jane sees an opportunity to seduce Cal. She tricks him into getting her pregnant. Jane thinks Cal is just a dumb jock but she will come to find out that Cal is actually a really smart man and when all is revealed the fireworks begin.

Knowing the couple will end up together in the end doesn’t distract you away from the story. This book was fun with all the craziness but the ride to discovering that they actually do love each other is enjoyable.

There were some funny scenes throughout the book along with some heart wrenching ones. I am not afraid to admit that I was in tears. One of my favorite funny scenes in the story was the part with the “lucky charms” *laughs* I wouldn’t want to spoil this for anyone but this story will make your emotions go on overload.

This series just keep getting better and better. Truly a fantastic read.

The Windy City isn’t quite ready for Phoebe Somerville—the outrageous, curvaceous New York knockout who has just inherited the Chicago Stars football team. And Phoebe is definitely not ready for the Stars’ head coach, former gridiron legend Dan Calebow, a sexist jock taskmaster with a one-track mind. Calebow is everything Phoebe abhors. And the sexy new boss is everything Dan despises—a meddling bimbo who doesn’t know a pigskin from a pitcher’s mound.

So why is Dan drawn to the shameless sexpot like a heat-seeking missile? And why does the coach’s good ol’ boy charm leave cosmopolitan Phoebe feeling awkward, tongue-tied…and ready to fight?

The sexy, heartwarming, and hilarious “prequel” to This Heart of Mine—Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s New York Times bestselling blockbuster—It Had To Be You is an enchanting story of two stubborn people who believe in playing for keeps.

I really, really enjoyed this romantic story!! It was filled with humor, romance and had some real emotional parts.

Phoebe Somerville is what most men would call a total bombshell. She has a killer body, a sexy voice, and the attitude that she can back up. What people don’t know about Phoebe is that she has a sexual past that she’d rather forget and she uses her hot body and witty remarks to cover it up. After her fathers funeral she finds out she has inherited the Chicago Stars football team. Phoebe learns that, while her father considers her his only failure, he’s given her an opportunity to make it up to him. Now Phoebe has only one season to lead the Stars to the AFC Championship or the team will go to her cousin.

Dan Celebow is the sexy coach of the Stars. The head coach wants nothing to do with Phoebe, believing her useless because she doesn’t know one thing about football. Dan just wants to coach his players, for the team to win, and for him to find himself a nice, comfortable, woman to finally settle down with. After  inheriting the team Phoebe takes off leaving contracts unsigned and the team wanting questions answered, Dan decides he has to bring her back to make this all work.

This book is not only heartwarming and sexy but it’s absolutely hilarious. Susan Elizabeth Phillips did a wonderful job of making the sparks fly between Phoebe and Dan. Phoebe is a force of nature to be reckoned with. I loved the fact Dan was finally able to break through all the walls she has put up to keep everyone at a distance.  As for Dan, I love that he was an arrogant alpha male. He puts his players and the Stars above everything else. Trying to fit Phoebe into this transition was very fun to read about.

This was my first book by Phillips, but I can assure you it will not be my last. I was laughing out loud hysterically many times. I liked the crisis towards the end forcing Dan to compromise his principles for what he really wants. The story was funny, wonderfully written and is now one of my favorites.

Next book in the series is Heaven, Texas and I am truly excited to read more about these hot football players in the windy city.

My Soul To Steal by Rachel Vincent

*Review By Danielle* (@lush26)

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

Another great addition to the Soul Screamers series! This series just keeps getting better and better if that is even possible. Rachel Vincent is Is a force to be reckoned with. She takes her Soul Screamers to a whole new level.

My Soul To Steal picks up a few weeks after My Soul To Keep leaves off. In this book Nash and Kaylee are on a break because of Nash’s addiction to frost. Kaylee is unable to come to terms that he is doing better and she isn’t ready to start-up the relationship again. Enter Sabine, who just happens to be Nash’s ex-girlfriend from two years ago, she  transfers to their school. I know, I know I was “Oh My God” as well. Sabine is literally Kaylee’s worst nightmare and it just so happens Kaylee is number one on her list as well.

This installment keeps you interested from the first few pages. Honestly, Vincent never brings you a dull moment. I can’t help but feel attached to these characters from the beginning of the series. You get a chance to watch them grow and become the people they were meant to be. In this book Kaylee took the lead. I loved how strong she had become from the previous books. I actually did scream GO KAYLEE when she slapped Sabine but I wont say why. I also admired the fact that she didn’t give into the pressures that Sabine was dishing out.

Kaylee is trying to trust Nash. I totally understood the whole trust issue, but sometimes I wanted to yell, ” Are you serious? He loves you! Why are you over thinking this?”. Nash, well, he’s really trying to move past his addiction and to make things right between Kaylee and him. The way he spoke to her, I melted at those  parts. What really brought me to tears is when Todd had a heart to heart with Kaylee. It must have been so hard, but I understood the confusion and anger on Kaylee’s part. I also felt for Todd having to be so bluntly honest but then again that’s a part of life.

Not only can Vincent keep your mind working, she can also make you see the world she has blessed us with. My Soul to Steal was so much more than what I was expecting. I couldn’t put it down if my life depended on it. I needed answers and I needed them now. Vincent doesn’t tease she leaves the best cliff hangers for what will hopefully come soon in this wonderful series. If I could read, If I Die, right this minute I would truly be in heaven. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series plus so many more to come from this wonderful author.

Danielle gives My Soul To Steal by Rachel Vincent 4 stars!

The Heiress by Lynsay Sands

*Review By Danielle* (@lush26)

Due out Feb 22, 2011

From: Avon Books

Desperately seeking a husband…

Suzette is not like other heiresses; she wants a poor husband. A gentleman who will be so grateful for her dowry that he will allow her access to her dowry so she can help pay off her father’s gambling debts. When this alluring beauty encounters Daniel Woodward—handsome, titled, single…and even more impoverished than she could have hoped for—it seems Suzette’s wildest dream has come true.

But Daniel has not been truthful. Tired of being accosted by an endless stream of vapid coquettes and their fortune-hunting mothers, Daniel has decided to plead poverty to stop them in their tracks. Yet here is a most refreshing and delectable lady who claims to be thrilled by his penury. Now all Daniel has to do to find true happiness is to keep a little white lie alive…while avoiding a dastardly villain who’s determined to prevent this union by any means necessary.

The Heiress is intriguingly delicious!

First I want to say how much I actually enjoyed this book from the very first page all the way to the very last page. Lynsay Sands doesn’t only bring you to a new world that isn’t just captivating, but she insures you will enjoy the ride one flip of the page at a time.

This is the Second book in the Madison Sisters Trilogy and was just as intriguing as the first book “The Countess” which was fabulously funny and sinfully sexy.

Suzette Madison is looking for  a husband, one that she can manage and marry to get her father out of a gambling debt. Attending a ball with her sisters, she meets Daniel Woodward. She thinks that she has found all that she is looking for in him, who just so happens to be a close friend of her sister, the Countesses, husband. After purposing the night they meet it is now up to Daniel to the agree to the terms that she is requesting, but the real question is will Daniel say yes?

Daniel doesn’t want the attentions of money seeking woman, so he pretends poverty and Suzette is thrilled. Now Daniel tries to gently tell her the truth all the while trying not to give in to the temptation of Suzette’s charms and quick wit.

I loved the fact this book runs parallel in time to The Countess which wasn’t really new for me, but Sands makes it enjoyable. It was great seeing what Daniel and Suzette were actually doing in the first book and to find out there was just so much more to their story.

The writing of the characters was very lovable. Suzette was honestly my favorite. She is feisty, persistent and will go to all ends for the people she cares for. Daniel is handsome, accomplished, and a giver. The attraction between them was nail-biting. Are they going to get together? When? I asked the questions and then finally got my answers. I thought as a couple they were just perfect for each other and they balanced out really well.

I was sad to see it end but then got really excited that soon we get to finally get to the bottom of the story of Lisa. She is a regular in the books, but her point of view of all the events will not only be a surprise, but extremely exciting.

This is a perfectly charming and cute addition to the Madison Sister’s Trilogy. Sands always out does herself in every book she puts out. Truly one of my favorite authors of all time and I cannot wait to read the third addition to this series. I recommend this series to all historical romance fans.
