Vampires live only for lust and pleasure in the eternal twilight of Vamp City. But the city’s magic is dying. The only person who can restore it? A beautiful woman from the mortal world…one who knows nothing of the power she wields.
Quinn Lennox is searching for a missing friend when she stumbles into a dark otherworld that only she can see—and finds herself at the mercy of Arturo Mazza, a dangerously handsome vampire whose wicked kiss will save her, enslave her, bewitch her, and betray her.
What Arturo can’t do is forget about her—any more than Quinn can control her own feelings for him. Neither one can let desire get in the way of their mission—his to save his people, hers to save herself.
But there is no escape from desire in a city built for seduction, where passion flows hot and blood-red. Welcome to Vamp City…

In an attempt for me to get more of my urban fantasy obsession fix, I was excited to get my hands on A Blood Seduction. It’s book one of a new series by Pamela Palmer (Yay no massive back list reading makes Nikki a happy girl) that gives readers a lot of world building, some smexy romance and a whole lot of action. I absolutely loved the concept of an alternate Washington DC known as VC (Vamp City). Set on top of “our” Washington DC in what could only be described as another plane. Made by sorcerer in the early days, it was a way for Vampires to basically roam free. They of course had blood slaves and most treated them as mere cattle more then human. Beaten, starved and worked to the bone these humans who had stumbled or were snatched into VC had a bleak standing in life. VC has only snatches of everyday mainstream life. Created in the old west kept most technology held back but since it’s perpetually night the vampires didn’t seem to mind.
Quinn isn’t like other humans and she knows it. She can see snatches of a different place in the sun beams outside her window and often feels the vibrations of another world right before this place arrives in front of her. Quinn is a loyal character, steadfast in her need to save not only herself but her half brother from the clutches of the vampires. While she ends up at Arturo’s, who treats his slaves as more like friends, her brother isn’t so lucky. Fearing him dead if she doesn’t hurry Quinn tries everything to get away from Arturo until she realizes that things could be much much worse than the opulent home and sexy man she finds herself with. Seemingly immune to the vampire thraw and believed to be a powerful sorcerer lands her at the mercy of the most feared vampire in all of VC. My biggest gripe with Quinn is that while she has courage in spades she just didn’t use her head and ended up getting her ass kicked quite often. Think woman! You’re in an alternate reality with super fast, super strong vampires. You need to stay where you are for a minute and think through a plan….ANY PLAN. She kept going off half cocked and she paid the price every time. Her un-heroine like qualities made me shake my head with dismay.
Arturo….I wanted to punch him a few times. All he does the entire book is lie to Quinn to get what he wants. It didn’t make him sexy at all. Sure he stepped in when she was in pain…but he put her there so in my mind that doesn’t make up for anything. Quinn doesn’t even call him out on a very blatant lie (at least in my eyes) about him being stuck in VC with no way to cross between worlds because of a failing magical barrier. Yet he drives a Jeep in a time where gasoline isn’t being produced and vamps ride in horse drawn carriages. HELLO QUINN….HELLO!!!!!! The book ends with yet another lie and I really hope the author manages to make me like him in book 2 because as it stands right now I sure don’t. Sexy doesn’t always equal likability for me. Arturo is case in point.
Loved the concept though and the world building is superb! A good start to a new series even though I wasn’t crazy about the characters I do think that over the course of a few books they will grow on me providing Quinn smartens up.
I give A Blood Seduction by Pamela Palmer 3 stars!
