Josslyn found perfection once, and she knows she’ll never find it again. Now widowed, she seeks the one thing her beloved husband couldn’t give her. Dominance. Lonely and searching for an outlet for her grief and wanting only a brief taste of the perfection she once enjoyed, she seeks what she’s looking for at an exclusive club that caters to people indulging in their most hedonistic fantasies. She never imagined that what she’d find is the one man who’s long been a source of comfort—and secret longing. Her husband’s best friend.

Dash has lived in an untenable position for years. In love with his best friend’s wife and unwilling to act on that attraction. He’d never betray his best friend. And so he’s waited in the wings, offering Joss unconditional support and comfort as she works past her grief, hoping for the day when he can offer her more.

When he finds her in a club devoted to the darker edges of desire, he’s furious because he thinks she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Until she explains in detail what it is she wants. What she needs. As realization sets in, he is gripped by fierce, unwavering determination. If she wants dominance, he is the only man who will introduce her to that world. He is the only man who will touch her, cherish her…love her. And the only man she’ll ever submit to.

Moving past the death of her husband has been a slow process but now, several years later, Josslyn feels it’s time. It’s time for her to live again an to explore the parts of herself that her husband never understood. Her need for submission. Fearing the reaction from her friends and her late husbands best friend Dash, she knows she has to tread lightly. Even though she’s a bit scared of what the future may hold, Josslyn knows that if she doesn’t try this now, she never will.

When Dash finds out what Josslyn wants to do he’s both extremely excited and leery. Ridden with guilt over his feelings for his best friends wife he isn’t sure he can give her what she needs even with his dominant side screaming that he most certainly can. He cannot stand by while some other man introduces her to the lifestyle he’s lived for years.

When Josslyn finds out about Dash’s feelings for her shes both worried and excited. Dash is someone she can trust but his link to her late husband might be more than she can handle. Dash surprises her by knowing exactly what she needs but can Dash let go of his guilt in order to possess the one woman he’s wanted for a lifetime?

Coming off of a bunch of romantic suspenses I picked this one up hoping for something new, something that would capture my emotions and give me a reason to not move for hours. Maya Banks delivered with Letting Go! Josslyn has mourned her late husband for long enough and now she’s looking for more. She’s navigating a need she’s not sure what to do with and she’s completely surprised when Dash says he wants to show her what a Dom/sub relationship is like. She goes from seeing Dash as her husbands best friend to someone who oozes dominance very quickly. Even with her reservations she finds she feels more at ease with Dash than if she were to hook up with a random Dom at the local fetish club so she agrees to Dash’s requests. I loved the erotic push and pull of these two people as they navigate this new found relationship and how it was shaping them both.

Dash was such an asshole at times and yet I enjoyed him so much. He seemed to not even realize what a douche he was being because he was more concerned with trying to give Josslyn what she wanted. Yet he was withholding what she was really coming to crave…himself. Neither of them seemed to understand the magnitude of what was happening between them and it wasn’t just the sex. Dash’s feeling of guilt over being in love with his best friends wife messed with his subconscious and he in turn acted like an ass. I alternated between feeling bad for Dash because he had hidden these feelings for Josslyn for years, never wanting to cross a line and create a rift in her marriage or his friendship and then wanting to smack him for being blind to his current actions. Overall it just felt epic. Two people who were always meant to be together were given the chance to finally come together.

Josslyn’s two friends will each get their own book as well. Book two will be Josslyn’s sister in law (her late husbands sister) Kylie and Dash’s new business partner Jenson. Seeing as how Kylie is living with the demons of her abusive father looming over her it should be an interesting story. Jenson is larger than life and his dominance exudes around him. Kylie is already cautious of him and pissed that he’s taking her brothers place in the business he built from the ground up. She also comes across as judgmental and slightly immature because her because everyone coddles her and her “fragility”.  I already like Jenson, but Kylie is going to have work hard to get me on her side :)

Banks gives readers another winner! Exceptionally written and wonderfully crafted, erotic romance readers are sure to gobble this one up!

I give Letting Go by Maya Banks 4.25 stars!

  1. I’ve only read Maya’s historical books, but this one sounds really good. Might have to add it to the growing list of Maya Banks’ books to buy.

  2. I loved her Highlander Macabe trilogy and her Colter and Breathless series as well. Doesn’t matter what genre she writes I find I love them all. Thanks for this opportunity.
