I recently had the opportunity to read this series when I was offered the newest book, #4 for review. I will have the review up shortly by the way. From the moment I opened the first book, The Better Part Of Darkness, I knew I was hooked. This urban fantasy series lifted me right out of my reading chair and into a world that got better with each book I read. Charlie Madigan is a kick ass heroine who is equal parts hard and incredibly soft. The book is set in Georgia about 10 years after the reveal of an alien race walking amongst the humans. The aliens, from two different planes of existence are co-mingling on earth without too much difficulty.
Charlie has been brought back from the dead prior to book 1 without any knowledge as to how or why she is still alive. She was brought back different, stronger…more. Along with her partner Hank, an off-worlder, Charlie will have to delve into the deepest parts of her city as well as herself in order to save not only those she cares about, but everyone else too. It’s an exciting journey that I hope doesn’t end with book #4. It’s in depth, exciting, full of intriguing lore and something I had never read before. The characters good and bad tell their story with complete finesse and even though I didn’t agree with them at times, they sure were fun to follow! The chemistry between Charlie and Hank literally leap from the page and the connection they share was incredible. God lord, I cheered for them through FOUR BOOKS PEOPLE! It’s a must read series and I can’t say enough good things, so just read it
