Today I want to welcome Mandi from Smexybooks.com to the blog! When I first started blogging I found Mandi almost immediately. I have gotten to hang out with her at the past two Lori Foster events. She’s made of awesome, trust me.
Am I right?
How can our families expect us to close a book, and run errands during a time when we don’t know if good or evil will conquer? During a time we don’t know if the hero and the heroine will truly fall in love?!
And yes, my husband argues – It’s a romance book. Of course there will be a happily ever after. But husband! How am I to think about which lunch meat the kids want to eat when my hero and heroine have gotten into a huge fight and they may decide to leave each other forever?!
This is why I love romance books so much. It’s not the HEA ending that I crave, it is the journey to get there. Whether the hero and heroine have been best friends, strangers or enemies to start the book, through each romance book they jump through hurdles to fall in love. The height and complexity of the hurdles differs in each one which continually draws us in. I for one adore it when there is a marriage of convenience to start the book, forcing our protagonists into a marriage neither wants. Some love friends to lovers theme as the two wake up one morning and their best friend banter turns into something else altogether. And who can resist those on opposite sides. Those that hate each other so much, their passion takes over and they have hot angry sex? *fans self*
My favorite part of a romance book is the courtship. Watching the hero and heroine dance around each other, whether taking that hesitant first kiss, or slamming each other against the wall for some hot and heavy action. The process of falling in love is where the romance is at. That point when each character thinks, wait a second. This person that is in my life means more to me than life itself.
It’s time to take a stand and say there will be no more milk in this house until I see this book through! Let’s unite! Or just lock ourselves in the bathroom and hide until we read, ‘the end.’
Mandi has graciously provided a $15 Amazon giftcard to one lucky winner today! Tell us one thing you have put off in order to finish a book you just couldn’t put down. Remember to leave a way for me to find you if you win. This is open to anyone who can use the giftcard and I will leave this open until July 3rd @ 11:59pm EST with the winner announced the following day. Good Luck!

I put off making dinner to finish a good book.

I think it’s more of what have I NOT put off for a good book: cleaning the house, finishing a term paper, studying, date night, sleep….I love a good story to lose myself in.
Oh gosh, many things. But I’ve literally gone without eating, to the point it’s made me sick, because I didn’t want to stop reading. LOL
And I agree Mandi, the best part is the courtship.
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity!

Mostly I put off sleep. I’ve usually not in bed before 2 am so that I can sit down undisturbed and finish whatever book has taken my fancy that day…. How else did you think I could meet my goodread’s quotas… I read 260 last year and I’m already over half way to my 225 for this year.

What haven’t I put off to read more. Generally, sleep is the first thing to put off, also though housework, even eating. If I am alone and really into the book. I suffer from insomnia a lot so I am often up at nigh, when there is nothing else to do really but read.

Most often I’ve put off sleeping. Other times I’ll put off eating just because I have to keep reading and see what will happen!

I agree completely. It’s the journey to that HEA. We get to take and live it with them.
I’ve put off chores, eating and delaying sleep by hours to get through a book. When I had first started reading the Outlander series there were already 5 books in the series. I’m ashamed to say I couldn’t stop and ordered out for dinner 4 nights in a row to keep reading about Jaime and Claire. It was so worth it and my kids LOVED it.

I’ve put off feeding the family, cleaning up after them, sleeping & a million chores that needed doing. Sometimes the next page just has to come first.

It’s always sleep. When I’m reading a good story that’s got my heart pounding with anticipation, I just can’t put it down for anything.
Thanks for hosting a giveaway!

Well there has been lots of things. When you get deep into a good book. Landray left on the couch to fold; Dishes waiting to be put away. And then you got the sleeping! Who needs it anyway.
Thank you for the great giveaway:)

Once, I put off cooking dinner until I finished a book. We ate rather late that night.
I love reading a good, steamy romance novel. Thank you so much for the awesome giveaway.

I ignored my dog wanting to go out. Bad idea. I’ll ignore making dinner or doing the laundry but I have to take the dog out when she needs to go. lol

I put off doing almost everything. Dinner, TV, working out, etc. Reading just consumes you so much sometimes.

I mostly put off sleep when reading a good book. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to work on no sleep because I was unable to stop reading.

Mostly it has been sleep I have put off, In fact I remember one time I was reading a series and it was so good that, that whole week I don’t think I slept 4 hours a night because I just couldn’t put it down.

I usually put off sleep in order to finish a book. Sometimes I’ll put off some chores like laundry or dishes until I finish reading.

I can usually put off so many things to finish a book. Sometimes it’s the dishes, or dinner, or calling people back, or laundry. One time I didn’t put my youngest to bed. I told him I wanted to finish a book and would probably be another 30 minutes or so. He said he’d wait. It was moor like an hour and by the time I got there, he was basically asleep. Oh well. He lived.
Forgot my email, again.

I put off eating, sleeping, grocery shopping, hell I’ve skipped family reunions to finish a book before.
I’ve put off everything from sleeping, to eating, to making dinner, etc. I even put off going to the hospital when I was in labor because I wanted to finish the book! My husband wasn’t too happy about that one.

Usually mu housework suffers quite a lot; also I have been known to stay up to finish a book till the wee hours in spite of the fact that I work the next morning.

There’s very little I haven’t put off to finish a book. Generally though it’s eating. I get into a good book and forget all about needing to eat. Oops.
I put off going to work. I kindly called in and said I had a migraine and needed a couple of hours to let my meds work. Then, I finished my book.
I will definitely put off cooking dinner or do the quick call a pizza when I don’t want to be interrupted!
andieleah78@gmail.com
Well, ive put off sleep more times than can count. Ive called into work a few times, burnt dinner or didnt cook at all, cleaning house, etc. I put off nearly everything to finish a book! lol

This is bad…peeing. Until my eyes were floating and I had to RUN to the bathroom! Now that’s when you KNOW a book is GOOD…when you won’t even put it down to pee. ROFL!! Sad. *shaking head* I know…Mercy.
I can’t believe I told you that…but it’s true.

Going to bed.
I once went a whole day not even turning on my computer to finish a fabulous story. I just couldn’t leave that world until I got to, The End.

I read while I’m walking from my transit stop to work. If I’m at a particularly good spot in the book, I’ll sit outside or at a coffee shop and keep reading. After all, who wants to go to work anyway. Luckily, I have flexible hours, so if I get in later, I just work later.
I have put off leaving for work when trying to get the end of the book. Also delayed getting to sleep so I can finish just one more chapter.
