Alana MacGregor craves excitement, but when her sometimes lover dumps her at a popular sex club, she wonders if she’s outgrown her live-fast-and-recover-later lifestyle. The last thing she expects is to run into the nerdy guy she rebuffed in high school—or for him to rock her world in ways no other man ever has.
Hot on the trail of a story, Carter Nicholas can’t believe his luck at encountering the one woman he’s never forgotten. He’s come a long way from being a wall-hugging geek. Now he gets all A’s between the sheets. But can he convince Alana he’s her sure ticket to an unforgettable night—and maybe much more?
Alana has always hidden her heart. Always wanted acceptance from the popular crowd. In high school she dated the captain of the football team, not the chess champion. She hurt people with a single sharp-tongued jab. One of those people was Nicky, the super smart, lovable bookworm. The boy she longed to admit her feelings for, but fear held her back. Fear of herself and who the true Alana was.
Now, years later the last person Alana expects to see in a sex club is Nicky. But he most definitely just sidled up to her at the bar and started taking what has been his for years. The feel of his hands on her body ignites the wild child in Alana that no man has ever done before. With him she doesn’t have to hide, she can have redemption for her past mistakes. Like letting this perfection in the shape of a man, get away. Convincing her pride and walls to crumble, is something she has to do…and quickly.
Nicky can’t believe who he has found at the bar of the popular nightclub. Nor can he believe she allowed him to take her in the grass behind the club….or in his bed back at his apartment. Alana is the woman he has wanted, the one that got away because he wasn’t popular enough in school. Didn’t fit the mold in her mind. Well he certainly fits it now and if the light he sees in her eyes isn’t lying she knows it too. Letting go of the past and welcoming the future is one job assignment he is willing to take.
Reveal Me is classified as a novella but it was shorter than most I’ve read. Having said that I honestly felt the story was better than some I’ve read in the past. Cari has somehow managed to get an entire story into one night and the following day. Alana’s character transformation is fast but complete and I found myself rooting for her to succeed in changing her personality. When I first started the book I didn’t really like her. She was a complete bitch and from the back story, sounded like she’d been that way for a while. It took me back to high school all over again. I hated those girls…HATED THEM. Somewhere around the time Nicky shows up I started feeling for her. Alana knows she’s been a horrible person. Knows her personality is seriously flawed. I wondered if the girls from my past got that newsflash in their shallow brains. Man, I hope so. Alana begins to try to let Nicky in. Cari mannaged to take me from complete dislike to feeling for her in less time then a full novel generally takes me. I’m amazed.
The sex is electrifyingly good. Wrote with tons of, err juicy, details. Nicky’s vulnerability was awwww worthy from the start. I wanted him to win his dream girl, and that dream girl to be worthy of his love. In the end, I was happy.
This was my first read by Cari and I am not disappointed in the least. I hope to have the chance to read more in the future! Reveal Me is a fast romp into the dark, erotic places our minds hide.
I give Reveal Me by Cari Quinn 3.75 stars!
